our story

MORF (Music on Regenerative Farms) is a grassroots initiative at the intersection of music and sustainability. We bring live concerts to land-based projects such as permaculture farms, and urban community & school gardens.

Inspired by the ancient wisdom and practices of indigenous peoples all over the world, we envision a future where humans live in reciprocity with nature.
We believe that the shared joy of music, food, and connection to nature is key to fostering resilient, self-sufficient communities in an increasingly uncertain world.

We strive to support farmers in their pursuit of environmentally friendly practices and celebrate the regenerative movement by collaborating with independent, local music acts, forward-thinking chefs, eco-conscious vendors, aligned organizations, activists and change makers.

At our core, we believe in the power of music as a catalyst for change, sowing the seeds for a renewed relationship with the Earth we call home.

the founders

Max & Michael met while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Having played hundreds of shows as solo artists (Max Embers and Michael Martinez) over the course of their careers, the two are currently launching their duo project Lonely Parrots.

An NBC Songland and American Idol alum, Max traveled nomadically across the United States for almost two years, visiting sustainable farms along the way.

In a conversation that can only be described as serendipitous (picture the two of them post car crash, sitting on a beach in Half Moon Bay, watching the sunset…) an idea took shape. Michael - Sofar Sounds veteran and critically acclaimed SF theatre performer - connected the dots that led to the inception of MORF.

Moved by their joint passion for nature as well as the desire to contribute to the climate justice movement, MORF aims to reshape our connection as humans to the way we grow food, heal our soil and celebrate community & art.

Lonely Parrots

besides starting MORF together, Max & Michael are also in a music duo, called Lonely Parrots.
